Vipassana meditation and Buddhist teachings
Visit us in the temple and learn more about the Buddha's teachings or take part in our meditation events. We practice and teach Vipassana (= mindfulness or insight meditation). All interested people, with or without meditation experience, are welcome to learn and practise meditation with us. The development of mindfulness and the gaining of insights from one's own experience is independent of origin, age, gender, religion or ideology.
Vipassana means intuitive, profound understanding or clear, truthful seeing of the true nature of all physical and mental phenomena. It means seeing things as they really are. The method taught here is an intensive form of the Mahasi Sayadaw technique with walking and sitting meditation. The meditators learn to develop mindfulness of body, feelings, mind and mind objects through simple and structured exercises.
